Goodevening all my fellow treasure hunters. I finally got my ACE 250 Friday and took it to a beach near Long Beach CA. today. I took it to the waters edge because the tide was out. The 250 didnt do well at all in the very wet sand. I had a few hits but never found anything. I reduced the sens and it didnt make a difference. I checked the dry sand area around the volleyball area and found a dollar plus in clad. The depth indicator worked very well as well as the coin discrimination. No gold but a good day just the same. Lastly I am still learning the pinpointing action. I was unable to use it with much success. I guess that will come in time. Overall, I am glad I spent the money. I will take out the 10/12 coil next week. HH Tracy

Don't worry about not being able to use the 250 in the beach wet sand. Being an entry level machine it lacks ground balancing and a salt mode for the wet sand use. Plus it operates on only one frequency. The larger coil will barely get much deeper but it will cover more of a footprint which is more important. Try to over lap as much as possible to get max coverage at depth with it.

Since I don't have any saltwater beaches in my area I am wondering what the ACE250 does or doesn't do that makes it ineffective on wet sand saltwater beaches? Noise? Falsing? No depth? Thanks in advance. Monty

Monty, Mostly falsing. I had several strong signals but didnt find anything down to about 10 inches. I had 5 coin bells but never found them, and one poptop that was non existent. It did great in dry sand though. I found several quarters and they showed as such on the screen. Tracy

this pretty much sums it up monty. it becomes unstable and generally goes banannas in the wet salt sand. you can lower the sensativity to help a little but it really is pretty much useless in the salt water. i guess it is just not really designed for this type of hunting, because as anyone who owns an ace 250 can attest, it works very very well on dry land!

It's what I've said all along, We all need as many detectors as we can afford to use at different locations and areas of the country.

SO MANY BEACHES, SO LITTLE TIME.......
