i went to the s. florida treasure hunting club's picnic and hunt at N. Hollywood Beach today, first time we've gone to an event with them. It was fun, met a lot of nice folk. On the way home I saw a site in an older part of town they were digging up and regrading, so I went around the block to get a look at it, when I spy a wallet-looking object on the sidewalk on the other side of the street. I send my son to retrieve it and it was a wallet with $101 cash and a teenager's learner permit and a GNC discount card, just a typical teenager wallet, no credit cards. His address was nearby, so we swung over there and returned the wallet, only the kid was home, no parents. Being a typical kid, he didn't have much to say, thanked us, didn't offer a reward - I don't suppose most kids would - and off we went. My son was none too happy about giving up the cash, but I hope it sinks in that's what you do...unless maybe you don't have money for food, in which case I don't judge.

Anyway, I suppose it's all a part of being ever alert to picking up a little treasure wherever one may find it.

I changed a tire in sub zero weather once for an older lady and refused payment. my mom had a flat not 6 months later and a guy stopped and refused payment too. this stuff goes around.
