At last the rain stopped and although cold and windy we headed out to some stubble fields… and are we glad we did! Lots of pottery across the field so hopes were high…. Yep 2 hammered for me… think one is a Charles 1 (1641 ) the other not sure… seems to have shields on both sides… nice lead weight, couple of spindle whorls, buttons, musket balls, end of a thimble, teaspoon, hinge.. a lovely 1861 Victorian half penny. If you look closely at the picture with the 2 lead disks, you can see the face of a house hold cavalry soldier 😳 …!

Now, I’m not one to see signs or read meanings into stuff…. But… himself found the beautiful heart piece and the button like thing with 2 hearts and a crown… the only conclusion that makes sense is 2023 will be the year I wear him down, nd he finally agrees to marry me 😬😂😂

back to the finds… I think I may have a bit of a Roman broach? and himself may of found a tip of a dagger? 🤔 …

we did some counting yesterday…
musket balls found to date 204
lead thingys (the bobbin ones) 43
283 buttons
40 flat 4 holed type buttons
47 livery/patterned buttons
(not including todays finds)

Finally I just wanted to say thank you to anyone who likes or comments on my posts, I really appreciate your comments and help with ids, and wish you all a happy new year I hope 2023 brings you everything you wish for xxx 🤗

Agreed, other than I disagree with the first common error (the PAS has copied this error for years), they are 18th C Cuff-link buttons, the construction is wrong for 17th C etc... If its any connection at all to Charles II its 100 years later.

Great start....

So why isn't this error corrected then?
