Hi all,
This little tag was found in a Nevada ghost town in a trash pit and as a result has been burned and slightly melted at one point. I’m still cleaning it, but figured I’d ask if anyone has any ideas. I can so far make out “ Sept 23,” “LIBRA,” and “O_I(T?)_2(?)”
I’m thinking due to the spacing maybe it says library. Any thoughts?

I do believe it represents astrology matters. Scales are the sign for Libra, which represents balance. The name may come from the fact the sun passed across the face of the constellation during the time of the autumn equinox when day and night are roughly equal. Roughly September 22nd or 23rd I think. That exhausts my short research on the matter. I feel fairly certain an astrological pendant or necklace piece.

I'm a 'Libran', although I don't give much credence to things astrological.

I would be sure that your >>>“Sept 23,” “LIBRA,” and “O_I(T?)_2(?)”<<< says "SEPT 23 * LIBRA * OCT 23" since that's the duration period for the Sun transiting the Libra constellation. Anyone born between those dates would be deemed a Libran. The set of scales is the traditional zodiac sign for Librans.

I don't know what you have, but presumably some kind of medallion/charm that relates to a person born between those dates. They're still sold today of course, and often to people who have no deep interest in astrology beyond reading their daily horoscope in the newspaper.
