Likely a Guilford type either strait base or stemmed. Nice find!

Thanks! It was luck that I found it...looking for shards in the straight section and was scanning the rocks along the edges of the creek and there it was ... couldn't believe my eyes lol My son said he's not trying to make me mad but that is far cooler than any of the shards ... have to admit it is cool and am happy to have it. Oh and I found a shard rim upstream later on today after we took a thorny rootball out of the creek...it was stuck under it ;-)

That says alot ...the shards will tend to gather in different areas than stone.
Your probably missing alot by looking "for shards" .
Duplicate what you did to spot that point..over and over.
That's were the stone will be.....with the stone.

yep that is what I was thinking and tried again later on this afternoon...I keep telling my son that we are missing so much and well, I can't stay out of the creek when I'm not working ... what an addictive thing it is!

Post the shard! I saw a persons collection the other day and he had a book end case with nothing but shards on it. (5 shelves) and allot of half pots. Alls I can find is small pieces.

I know you probably have a shard room. Its more fun if you find them yourself.

All I find are small too but I love each one of them...hoping to find the spot where it is all coming from...big hope is to have enough of one to put them together. Love the story that they tell! I will post a pic of the rim this afternoon.

OK Peaches Ill check it out later then. Have you tried to google earth the creek yet? I did the one I hunt and saw some cool looking spots on it to explore. Now all we need is no rain for about a month so I can check it out.
