Anybody heard of the French wreck just off of Dauphin Island?

I’ve read some about the original French explorers that came through the gulf coast and their settlement on Dauphin Island also known as massacre island. If you look back through the older aerial photos and compare them to the more recent photos from google earth the anchorage seems to be in the area just south of the golf course putting the original settlement at or under the eastern end of the course itself.
