Anyone ever think about using something like these for prospecting transportation?

Absolutely. I have a Suzuki Samurai that I used to take to the claim. It's an excellent little go anywhere vehicle.
It's fantastic on poorly maintained roads.

The Jimny is the same as the samurai just the Far east name.
I want one of each when I retire for hunting and prospecting/mining.

Yotes on a bad dirt road absolutely yes....but, will they go on a brushy goat trail that turns into a tree lined Indian trail and then into an animal trail.....

Idaho wilderness, I'm going to retire and die there....
