Anyone make / use a stamp mill?

My ECV chapter has one, it was functioning up till a few years ago, we’re getting ready to rebuild it. I don’t know of any plans per se but they are fairly simple machines it wouldn’t be too hard I think to build a little one, I have seen a few home built mini stampmills.

A small stamp mill was on my bucket list but no longer a priority as for my application I've decided pyrolysis is best suited to my needs.

A larger crank and larger bearing does help. Cutting out the cams may be a little harder to work out.

I don’t think a crank shaft would work. The cams not only lift the stamps but also rotate them so you have even wear of the stamp shoes.

Would like to see a thread dedicated to smelting, I might even join in on the conversation.

A buddy of mine owns a small jaw crusher and a disk mill, the plates are made of ceramic.

Not much to the smelt very few tools add heat n pour not exactly
rocket science... Just keep it in the heat 30 minutes...

My smelter kinda primitive but it dont take much, propane and some forced air geter done..

I just smelt gold using action mining gold/silver Bullion flux. Regular crucible type...
I have no idea what a collector metal is, my guess would be you are cuppelling that would be for sampling. I just use a gold pan for that if it's yeller in the ore I crush it.
My gold here usually comes out of the heat 90 percent or better pure, good enough to sell.

Since the output from the stamp mill will require further purification.

A collector metal such as lead has a much lower melting temperature than gold and gold willingly alloys with the lead.

The button removed from the cooled slag then cupelled, as the lead melts the oxides shed off being absorbed into the bone ash leaving behind a button of gold with perhaps a few other metals of value ie: silver and platinum.

Gold and silver are relatively easy to refine, it's the platinum sisters that can cause you health issues if handled improperly.

The ore I work with comes off the table 90 percent or better pure no need to refine any further I just send it to a refiner for $$.. I don't do cuppelling or acid work ..

I just have a tablet no computer I'm a dirt miner on miners salary these days if you know what I mean..
Not a company miner so I have to find the yeller stuff or no pay and my district is the Dale just ask those that hunt there ...
