My wife stepped on this arrowhead or spear point while we were searching for pottery shards in the Shenandoah River today. It is 2" long and 1" wide. Must have been in the water for some time as the edges are worn down. Any ideas on its age or the period it is from? IMG_0636.JPG . Pardon if it posts twice, wasn't sure the first post took.

It looks like an archaic stemmed point. Very nice to step on one!

Nice quartzite point, also agree with it being a archaic stemmed (not familiar with point types from your area).
