That is a beautiful buckle! Not very often you see one made of silver. Hopefully you can find the tongue and chape as well. I would bet they were made of silver as well. Congratulations on an awesome find!

True, but I can't tell if it's plated or not?

Nice find, any markings on it, have you gone over it with a loop? I like the snow on the ground, keep digging.

Wow... now that's a piece of treasure for sure. You know the guy that owned that buckle was wealthy... heck, I bet he had a powdered wig!

I'm not sure yet if it's silver or silver plated I will try and find out and let u know ! Thanks for the replies I appreciate them!!! The ground was frozen the day before but it warmed up to 40s yesterday and it unfroze which caused tremendous mud! Lol I don't know if it's silver here is the back side u can see silver under what appears to be bronze or just tarnish IMG_8860.JPG IMG_8861.JPG IMG_8862.JPG from age n wear I will try and clean it off afraid if it's silver plated to destroy plating I can't see any enscriptions but there could be

To find a silver shoe buckle is a personal mission of mine. I'm guessing I've found close to 30 shoe buckles and never so much as sniffed a little piece of a silver buckle. A huge congratulations to you for finding that beautiful early relic. I hope it's marked so you can learn as much as possible about it. That will make a killer display piece
