I got back to the old 1850s tavern location tonight. The last couple hunts I walked with the plow zone, so tonight I went against the zone. I don't know how i missed all this. The fish scale is from the late 1800s, the old glass would have been nice whole, the early pontil bottles are hard to find in a field, I would love to find the dump, maybe some day. HH

Nice finds! My great grandfather owned a tavern in a tiny town in rural Illinois. My mom (73) was raised in it by her grandparents and remembers the town in great detail. Most everything is gone now. I would love to take a trip up there someday to see what could be found. I think about it every time you post. Thank you! I wish you future success!

Sounds like a road trip that might be worth taking. There were several around the out lying area where I live, I have detected several over the years.

Here is something I found at one old tavern site along the river. It is off an old cast iron kettle. I found my first cannon ball in the location, the military used to train in the area in the 1850s.

This belonged to my maternal grandfather. He was born in 1900 and died in 1968. From Elmore Co. Alabama...
