For whatever reason, deer seem to bring me good luck. After chatting with this fellow and some of his friends I came across a Barber pocket spill out in the woods:

001.JPG

The pocket spill consisted of two IHP's ( 1897 and 1902), a 1906-D Barber quarter, and two Barber dimes (1906 and 1902-O). They were all in a loose pile on the side of a slight hill.

Here's how they came out after a little light cleaning. The lone Merc (1931) was from earlier in the same hunt.

Thanks for taking a look, and may there be a deer or two making an appearance in your next hunt!

Congrats on the spill, very nice recovery indeed.

I remember detecting in these deep park ravines and I looked up and there's this big buck standing there looking at me. He had 6 Does behind him, eating, looking at me also.
He stood there tilting his head one way slightly then the other.
I slowly took off the Grey Ghost headphones and chatted real softly to the big guy.
There was a tree big enough to protect me if he decided to charge.
But after a couple of real long minutes he just turned and walked off-I did the same in the other direction.

I think we should start calling you 'The Deer Whisperer' SM. :laughing7:
Hey, if it works and helps you make great coin finds like these, why not.

I couldn't resist posting this pic.

That's a very cute cartoon Antiquarian! It seems like I come across deer on a pretty regular basis. They all seem curious about what I'm doing and why I'm not making any noise. It's a treat to get up close and personal. Thank you everyone for the nice comments.

Good find! Pocket spills are cool unless you find one still in the pocket!

Awesome Barber finds, along with the other silver! Like the deer picture. I live and the edge of town on a hillside. I have a small creek runs down between my property and the neighbor. The deer use the ditch as a passage way down to the lower part of the valley all year long. They pass through and feed and nibble in my and the neighbors yards. I have the pleasure of seeing them regularly and watch every years newborns grow up.

That is a great coin spill. I wish the deer I see in the woods dropped coins like that !

That old buck has been around a while. He may know where another spill lies.
