Got this today at the 1790s courthouse. Also got an unidentifiable copper - I feel like I see something but can't make out what it might be.

Got around to putting all the coins and buttons in a temporary display case. This site has yielded an impressive quantity of relics...

Wow that is an awesome old LC! Good job with the delicate cleaning. Do you coat with Renaissance wax or leave exposed at this point. I have a couple old coppers with good detail like yours that I am considering locking in the patina with Renn wax, but maybe a bad idea?

Great finds. Just curious what channels you went through, (I would have to go through), to hunt the, (a), courthouse. Congrats!

It's not standing anymore. The foundation was still there when I started hunting it, surrounded by a small wooded area. The owner cleared all the trees and bulldozed the area flat recently (hence why I've been finding 1700s coins and buttons practically on the surface).

It was originally just a house built in the late 1780s/early 1790s, the guy who lived there became the county clerk and held town court meetings at his residence. So I guess it never really was an official court.

I have never tried Renaissance wax. This one is just a light toothpicking/toothbrushing. I try to leave a little bit of dirt on most of the coins I find...I feel like it makes the details pop a little better.

I see. Thanks for the info grasshopper. I’ve been focused on a few places, (structures), like this and was curious about the possibilities.
