Went back to the site where I fist started detecting almost exactly a year ago. I went with the intention of digging bottles but didn’t have a tone of luck. I figured why not go walk around all of the new construction and see if the rain uncovered anything in the dirt. I start walking down a little ditch and boom, eroded out of the bank and sitting there clear as day is a minie ball.

Do ya see it?

After that I figured I would break out the detector lol. Ended up digging a Williams cleaner type 3 with no base and an Enfield marked with something on the base. Maybe someone will know more about that. All told it was a pretty good showing for 3 hours in the pouring rain.

Thanks for the info. I believe you’re right it does look like an L2. Sweet!
Yeap, I've found lots of different numbers listed & the L types, not sure I've ever seen a proper explanation as to why, just theories.

Smack dab in the middle of the runoff. It's impressive the amount of things found on the surface that people could just walk over if they never bother to glance down. I have found multiple buffalo nickels, in the same day too, sitting on the surface of clay beds. Nice finds.

Definitely a sight for sore eyes. Detecting has been slow the past few weeks.
