Hello, I haven't posted on here for sometime, but I've found enough to fill some cases :headbang:!
This one I found Tuesday the 25th. Ive posted it on Artifact sites & have had many ideas on what it is Preform/Knife? Type? All I know is its one of the best pieces I think I've ever found!

That is a beauty and it has great flaking. You didn't say what state it was found in but it looks like a 1st stage Cobbs blade to me. Very nice.
Sorry, NE KS, & thats what some of the thoughts were. Also Dovetail preform? or Calf creek preform ? But some were a well made knife.
Thanks šŸ˜„

I don't put a 100% faith in what I read in Overstreet but there's a note in there indicating that the North blades (Woodland period) may be Snyders preforms with which they are contemporaneous as well as with Hopewell. I have read that somewhere else as well. Surely evidence exists of this if it is true. I just can't put my finger on it but it seems like they have been found in caches w/Snyders.

Edit: You got yours in before I finished and saved mine Up-North! That may be the best example of a North biface that I've ever seen. Congrats.

I do not know now as I get mine out. Yours has a more uniform flaking but they both show some secondary edge work.
Yours is a lot nicer and uniform than the one I found.
Here is mine.

That one is very nice. The big difference is yours seems to have been used more and resharpened. Cat stars is 1st. stage. Both are excellent.

Demoncatspacestarā€¦ hereā€™s a few pics.
The single(with the quarter) Iā€™m typing as a north bladeā€¦ the other pic.(with the3)Iā€™m typing as cobbsā€¦ cobbs are always beveled, except the first stage, my bottom piece is not beveled, Iā€™m typing it as a first stage cobbs.. I could be wrongā€¦ your piece also appears to be heat treated.. if so, I believe it to be a north bladeā€¦ heat treating started in the mid archaic period.
The cobbs is much older than the north..
Just my 2cents.. hope this helps..āœŒļø
