Not necessarily.

Found this bit about 1” deep.
Flat..probably 8 grains.
In an area hammered by small coils.

Nice! I was thinking about that big coil on the gold racer. Have you found targets pretty deep with that compared to the stock coil?

I have not used it a bunch yet. It definitely goes deeper on larger targets.
Biggest advantage is probably the increased coverage.

I’m thinking I will dig up a deeper/large nugget sooner or later. Just have swing it over one.

That's a great find with a big coil. That must really be engineered to be sensitive to be found with such a large coil.

Nicely done, and all the best,

Lanny

This was probably the smallest piece of gold I would expect to find with this coil.
It did catch my attention and registered as gold on the target ID.
I only recovered it because I carefully centered the signal and slowly excavated, checking the signal each time.
If I had slammed the spade into the earth and dug a bunch of dirt out, it’s possible I would have lost it.

Wish they had a dual coil, where you could flip a switch to activate a smaller inner coil to recover small pieces.
At least, I’d like to test a coil like that.
