Thanks Dig.
My Dad used to take me and my brother fishing all the time. Great memories. I'm glad my son loves to fish. That's our father & son bond. I just can't seem to get him interested in metal detecting. :'(
So you don't think I'm a nut, I was just kidding about the Carp sushi. There's not enough Sake in the world to wash that down. ;D
Have a great week.

What do you use to catch them with. Lures live bait or what?

Burdie,
It's tough to catch these monsters. They generally eat just vegetation in the lake, but this one sucked up the nightcrawler my son had on. He saw the fish eating along the shoreline, casted up in front of it, then just waited. His technique worked! ;D

Daniel,
That old carp would just not give up. It took him a good 10 minutes to wear him down.
Actually, I miss that ice fishing. I wish I could try it again. I haven't done that since the 70's when I lived up in Indiana. Not too much fun if you're out in the open with the wind whipping across the lake though. :'(
Good luck,
MM

Nice catch ! In Europe i heard carp are a delicacy. :P I used to catch them on corn. ;D

I tip my hat to you MM. A man who takes his Son fishing will have a life time of memories for him and his Son
That is one big ol Carp
Van

we used to catch huge carp on wheatie balls or corn up north ---the mud vien is the reason they taste foul --- once you learn the proper way to dress them and cube up the meat and deep fry it right ( most of the black fishermen up north knew how to dress em out ---their not bad) but if you screw up and brak the mud vien while cleaning it -- do yours taste buds a favor and chuck the fish .

Ivan,
I remember using wheatie balls too back in the 70's when we used to fish a river in Missouri. There were some monster Carp and Drum in that river. Gar too.
I too remember the black fisherman in Indiana keeping them.

I like to fish for them in the spring. I use dough balls made from a sub roll. I use no sinker, just a dough ball. It is no big deal to catch 20 to 25 lb carp in NY. I only catch and through back ALL my fish. You do have to have a real strong line. Mike.

Another fish story. :D Hey Mike, you did good!! My best childhood memories are the days I went fishing with my dad...we were fishing buddies.

;) RR

You got that right. ;D
They actually just put them in our pond to eat the weeds. I would have rather seen a 15lb. BASS. ;)
