Cool looking brass tag found on a Michigan farm. Cannot find anything on the internet so not sure how old or whatever it came off of unfortunately.

It looks like a tag that would have been applied to some industrial type of equipment or machine . I can only come up with a company called Mermaid Marine, which manufacturers larger marine engines. It seems they may have been around since the later 1940s and their logo is a black or blue mermaid. I was hoping I would find they built a model of boat motor they named the Black Mermaid, but no such luck. This "what is it" find looks to be a bit of a challenge having only the internet at our fingertips.

thank you for that input and research. 1940s would be in the range for this specific property AND close to Lake Michigan so very plausible
