This guy lives in the backyard here. He's about a foot long. Iv seen them grow up to 3 feet long but typically a foot to a foot and a half. They are pretty docile and tame quickly. I had several when I was a kid.

Cool photo

When i was younger I had all kinds of different reptiles, never had a Blue Tongue Skink which is what I know the one in your photo as, had many true Chameleons, 130 true Chameleons to be exact, several leaf tail Geckos, two Salvadoran Water Monitor and two Black throat Monitors, and a few other reptiles, Yep I was into collecting exotic reptiles big time LOL, I always wanted a Frilled Dragon and a blue Tongue Skink but never really had the opportunity to get either of those two reptiles

Hi, yeah they are a skink. I used to keep lizards as a kid in our old out of use above ground swimming pool. It had a sand bottom and I had rocks and logs in it. I had a bearded dragon, stumpy tails, blue tongues and smaller skink types. There's lots of big goannas where I am up to 5 foot long and the smaller bearded dragons. I had a 3 footer bluey but it escaped and our neighbour killed it with a shovel 😡
Those chameleons are funny creatures, they would have been fun to own. 👍

I see only little lizards here in the mountains. When I first moved here on the front range there was so much more open dry grass lands and I'd see some little brown lizards every now and then. Things had changed drastically since then in all this development and I believe the lizards found themselves with less space to hide and they all got ate up by the birds.

My Male Black throated Monitor was 7 feet long, I would drape him over my shoulders around my neck and walk into the pet stores here in the U.S when I would go to pick up the Rats I fed him, yes I would have control of his head so I did not get nailed in the face or throat but the Looks I would get was like I had just parted the Ocean, it was funny to watch peoples reactions, the Chameleons were funny creatures to watch
