The More the Treasure the More the Trouble: Treasure Hunting Around the World

An illustrated lecture by Robert Marx. Robert Marx has worked in over 60 countries worldwide on submerged settlements dating as early as 5000 BC up until the Civil War days. In this line of work, it’s not just a matter of finding wrecks and picking up treasures. He’s been accidentally involved in wars and revolutions in various countries. Accident wise, he’s been in 5 plane crashes, been bitten by sharks twice, and every bone in his body has been broken from diving accidents. Many times Marx has made deals with governments only to have governments renege on the deal and keep the treasure for themselves. He is also the only archaeologist sued by the mafia over treasure. Marx is currently involved in 3 major court cases in The Hague on major treasure cases; thus he coined the phrase “treasure is trouble.”
