I got out today before work and had a great day with the AT Gold. Loving this machine. I got two Coronet cents, 6 buttons, 2 early knives, pewter spoon piece, and a Colonial saddle piece (tombac material). I also dug the brass piece in the heart of the iron. It looks Colonial. Does anyone know what it is? It is decorative to boot. I am satisfied with my day and will coast until water season.

Keep the passion high!

Kirk

Great going Kirk! Are you sure that's not a cut piece of silver? Has some similarities, doesn't it?

Nice day Kirk. I have found about a dozen of those "Mickey Mouse" padlocks, so called because of the two Mickey Mouse ears. Often times you only find the face, like yours. In fact I have that identical one. I have one from a strictly 18th century site, but the others are from sites that straddled 1800. Based on my experience, I would date them 1770 to 1820.

Thanks, Steve, it was a nice find. I am thrilled about my day. Colonial relics and two coppers.

Sweet finds Kirk. Coppers always make my day but finding colonial and post colonial relics to go along with the coppers makes a hunt more interesting. That padlock face is great. I bet it rang up like a copper. Did you think you had copper #3 before you wiped the dirt off of it?

Some really nice stuff. Love the front from the "mickey mouse" lock. It IS colonial! I've dug them on 1700s sites.

Cheers,

Buck
