If I can judge the size from the posted pictures my thought is it is one of these:

BONE. With tourist grade carving. ARC is correct. Looks like the handle on a Japanese knife, but a size reference and photos of the ends would be nice.

Definitely bone, its purpose would just be a guess, but possibly a knife handle as Gunsil suggested.

Yes I believe that's correct . However did you see the illustration with what looks to be a Asian on a raft of some kind and then dry land so my question is how old it could be. Lmk what you think
