I have met quite a bit of resistance from tellers and bank managers when I ask them for boxes, whether it be asking for one at the counter or asking them to order one for me. How do guys and girls go about ordering your boxes? Do you tell them you're a collector or do you give another reason? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

It seems to depend on your bank. Try the merchant teller, they deal with big boxes of coin all the time. I once asked a "regular" teller if I could order a box and she said we don't sell half dollars. I told her oh yes you do and she got all huffy with me. The next morning I called the head teller (who knows me by sight) and had no problem ordering a box.

My BofA orders me 2 boxes every week without me even having to ask. It might change if I do not pick them up but for now I go by every Friday with a thousand in my pocket.

I basically call banks and ask them if it's possible to order boxes of halves. I've found six banks this way and have ordered halves from each one. Cyberdan is correct, you need to speak with the merchant teller since they are order all the currency.

I had no problem getting my small town bank to order me boxes of halves. They know exactly why I want them and always ask if I found anything good. I went into one bank recently asking for halves, the teller sold me a $500 bag and told me they could order me boxes even if I didn't have an account there without me even asking about boxes. I would say it really depends a lot on the teller you talk to.
