Found this at our Button Hill property near my William 1690's copper. So I know its old but I have no idea what it was used for.
It's 5 1/2" long and the opening is 1 7/8" at the widest spot. The other end is closed and looks like it was soderd. The bigger opening has a small lip on it like if it had a lid that would snap on it. Any help would be great.
Thanks.

Having that one end closed off is what's really stomping me. My first thought was a powder horn. But even then it would need the smaller end open.

A hearing horn would also require the small end to be open.

I was hoping ear trumpet too, especially considering the age of the place, but unfortunetly I found the thing would be pointing in the wrong direction. I agree with teapot spout.

It looks like it was once part of a tea pot spout but wonder why it was closed off at one end?

Possibly a poor man's snuff mull? I could not find a picture of horn shaped one made of brass but these were very popular in the 18th & 19th C.

I'm going with this one! It makes the most sense. It went from just a piece of scrap brass to a very unique find. Thank you!

Just for comparison, here's a tea spout. <img src="http://www.treasurenet.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=1063421"/>
I believe at one time it was a tea spout. Then it was turned into a snuff mull.
