Brass maple leaf. Any ideas?

I dug this little brass maple leaf out of the shells and rocks at a local beach a few weeks ago.
It is about an 1-1/2 tall. It looks hand-made. Anyone have any idea what it might have come from.
The area it was found is quite old.

Could be a grape leaf too.

Found one leaf shape with some prongs to hold (still holding) a clear marble.
Suspect it was a decoration.

Thank you for replying. I was thinking decoration, but wanted to make sure it wasn’t some type of badge or possibly some type of military adornment. There was a small naval skirmish near here and some war of 1812 buttons have been found at this beach.
just wanted to check with others before I discard it into the brass/copper pile of semi-interesting random finds.
