Got skunked at an old baseball field yesterday with a bunch of 60'-70's clad. Just wondering what this piece is. Pretty sure there were houses on the site until the 20's before the field became 3 baseball diamonds. It appears to be brass after scratching it and rang up very high. Although it has rust on it I think it's because of all the iron junk that was in the hole. ? It has a lot of what I think are file? possibly wire wheel brush? marks on all sides and edges. Lighter with team who should be playing tonight is for size reference only...lol Thanks for any input.

Could it be something used during the making of a shoe?

Or possibly a place to place your heel while getting your shoes shined?

Not sure if my pics show the actual curve well enough.

Maybe it was some type of vintage cleat for baseball cleats.

I think it would definitely weigh down the shoe...lol I'm thinking it was from before it was a baseball field...I found a lot of "homesite" items as well, some too big to fit in my pouch.

More seriously though, I think there is a couple of old threads that these were solved in (and of course I find the one where it wasn’t)

I was thinking homemade...maybe not. I was thinking along the lines of some sort of spacer for and axle?/pipe? Where the nipple would hold the "spacer" in place...Guess I'll start searching the threads...lol

I haven't been able to confirm it, but I was once told they were scale pans for gunpowder & shot scales.

Thanks. I looked those up. This thing seems awfully thick for that, but I don't know.

I believe its part of an old drum/barrel drain cock. It slides in the drum/barrel drain mechanism and open and close the drain.

Looks like the tar drain on a craftco machine, or some sort of valve.

Yeah, we've seen this item posted before. I can't find any of the old threads, either.

I was thinking we decided it was part of a vulcanizing device for patching inner tubes.

I still can’t find the old thread where I think one of thes was solved. I think it was part of a gate valve or similar?
