My drought continues, but I did find a broken button, that probably would have been one of my favorite civilian buttons.

My other broken find was this brass plate, that I first thought was a gun adornment, but I can't make sense of the two notches. When I go home, I remembered that I had found one very similar, that had a maker's mark (also pictured below). This new looks like it may have had a mark in the same location, so I'm curious.

Any thoughts?

Thanks, Creskol! That could be it, for sure. I would expect to see two more fastener holes in the more complete piece, but they could have been just beyond, where it broke off.
