I parlayed my job into another permission...this time at a house built in 1855. I ended up spending a couple hours there. There were only a few clean signals on the entire property, all of which turned out to be memorials or clad. I was running the etrac in 2-tone ferrous. The 1st good find was one of the worst signals i've ever bothered to dig: iron grunts with the slightest high-tone chirp. I pulled two long rusty old nails from the hole, then pulled what I thought was going to be an indian. I saw the thickness and thought hey that's cool...it's a fatty. The reverse came through first, and saw the familiar "one cent", but it occurred to me that it looked a little different for some reason. The obverse took several minutes of work, and it wasn't long before i coaxed out the design.
Here it is right out of the ground. I wasn't positive it was an FE but i was pretty sure:

After a little cleaning. I guess it's not too much cleaner than before, but the design is unmistakable:

The next notable was a similar signal to the FE...crappy. After pulling some junk from the hole i pulled a gilted button.
Freshly dug:

Cleaned a little. The gilt will really come through after a little more effort:
