Hi all,
I was digging in front of a house built in 1957, that sits next to a brick house built in the 1880's. The yard I was digging used to be the brick houses side yard once upon a time. I was digging copper Lincoln after copper Lincoln when I finally got a lower steady 62 signal on my Ace 400. I was hoping for a button, and was not disappointed. I am also stumped though, and need some help figuring out what it is. OD is 17.9 mm.

Thank you in advance for any and all help figuring this out!

It looks like it has a French horn maybe on the front, at the bottom of the center "shield". Also appears to have 16 stars at the top of the center "shield". The banner above the "shield" definitely says something, but I cannot read it yet. Hope something leads to a positive ID.

I wish I could help but the Waterbury website is still down while they rework it. I think you have a civilian fashion button.

With the French horn, I was thinking a band button maybe. Gold gilted too, if it helps in the search once the site is back up.

I can't find a match but the image is a crowned crest/shield with a 3 mast ship and olive branch wreath.

The rusty back says it's 'vintage' - mid 20th C (ish). Likely a fashion blazer button.

A ship you say? I was trying to make my eyes see a horn with three crudely shaped music notes above it, but i totally see a ship. I also wondered with the rusty back if it wasn't a more modern version of a button trying very hard to look older...... Very interesting, thanks for the insight DCMatt!!

I agree on fashion button. That iron back and square shank spell "new" to me.
