Ok I got a new farm stead I've recently been exploring. Just a quick cherry pick, because it's so overgrown. I found this button, & not to far from it I found a 1866 sheild nickel. Button is roughly 23.5mm, back is roasted thou. I'm wondering if button is civil war era or just a repop/fashion button. This site looks promising.

It is a fashion button. The corroded back is one sign. The lack of detail and rounded wings on the eagle are two more and the large anchor ring is yet another. It probably dates to the last half of the 20th century.
I think just about everybody who has detected for any length of time has found one. I know I have.

Ok thanks, I was hoping for the real deal but oh well! My Hope's was up because of the 1866 sheild nickel & the 2 US marked 32 rimfire cases that I believe are civil war era, I found on this new hunting site. Lol now I'll try & figure out how to mark it identified!🤣😂🤣
