Hi all,
Went exploring the woods by me in California. Found what appeared to be a small dump site. Found this button, an oil lamp part patent 1860s and some old Henry type rim fire shells, weirdly folded spoons etc. Would you think this is an 1860s button?
Thanks
Nick

It resembles a drilled shank button. May be older than your 1860 date

I'd say the 1st one is 18th century, and the 2nd ca 1830 give or take 10 years.
Hi Smokey, thanks for the info, the 2 button pics are of the same button. The oil lamp was 1860. Different style than I'm used to finding. This one opens in the middle and has a hinge. Maybe whale oil??

My first thought on your button is that it's fairly modern probably 1920 - 30.

Your HB&H Burner is from the early-1860s and was a flip-top design, these used an early lip/flange glass chimney design. It's nice that you have the original '0' size collar still attached.

Here's what your lamp burner originally looked like, the example shown is slightly later.

I found the collar about 20' away. Wasn't till I got home that I noticed was threaded so I gave it a shot and it matched!
