Got back out to the construction site again for a few more hunts, but this time fill dirt had been widely spread. Normally this would mean the end is very near for the site, once fill dirt is brought in. However, this fill dirt came from a downtown Savannah site and was full of all kinds of stuff ranging in all ages as early as Rev War period or even earlier. Some notable finds recently were the lead Capped Bust Quarter Counterfeiting Mold, the Screven House H&L railroad bag tag, rev war British 6lbs. cannonball, old Savannah watch fob, an old St. Christopher medal, and some old coins.

That’s pretty cool man. One thing also worth bringing up are gaming tokens. Many of those were cast at home for use in games. I’ve found several that were too crude to be believable and instead likely used for late-night betting. And being made of lead means that the only metal you can pour into that mold without melting it would be pewter, which many tokens were made of…
Just a thought, but either way a mold is exceedingly rare and a banner find to me!
