I found this while cleaning out a relative's workshop. They owned a construction company for years but also purchased vintage items from Brimfield.

It's a cast iron box, 7 3/4" long. The removeable lid is full of evenly spaced holes and the bottom is embossed "DELTA PRODUCTS CO ATLANTA GA."

I'm not sure what this is. My best guess is that it's for holding drill bits or machining bits. Delta has made drill presses for years, as well as other machinery.

Very interesting piece. I would think it might be a used oil catch for a metal lathe or drill. Hopefully someone can properly identify this for you.

It's heat related. Maybe for heat treating or stove related. There was a Delta foundry in Atlanta used to make cast iron stoves. Drill bit holders have different sized holes, and don't need to be cast iron.

The Delta Co. that made drill presses was out of Milwaukee, WI. I have a 1944 Delta drill press and a 1930's Delta bandsaw. Gary

I’ve got a old foot warmer with similar construction, there’s a metal box with holes drilled like that. But it slides inside a wooden box and it’s thin metal so maybe not.
