As a newbie. Found this. Did some research and it was built in 1855, looks like a virgin site. Never been touched. Old church. How would you approach this for detecting. Inside/ outside 1,st ? CC497F74-342F-415B-B207-77E82F3D8349.webp

Spent a hr there. A couple of finds4BFAE0DB-7902-4117-8DEE-AAD45C50F5C6.webp

Nice place to find! Very cool. I would start with the foundation and work outwards.

Nice!!! Good Luck!! I'd grid off a section at a time such as front , side, back and as Cuda74
, said work from the foundation out. I generally start at the spot with the most activity. Happy Hunting!!!

I'd start by detecting an area outside the foundation/cellar hole to make a spot for surface debris. Then detect/rake/detect my way inside....even digging inside if you keep finding stuff the deeper you go. Once the inside is TOTALLLY detected, start working on the outside, expanding my way from the center. Try to find other related places close by, such as a well, shed/outbuilding, outhouse, barn, etc. Hit those new spots too, and the paths between them.
