It is a Chinese coin, from the 1800's. It is a called a devalued coin, as it is smaller than the normal issue coins. On the front (4 Chinese characters) the top and bottom character tells you what the king's reigning name is.....and on the reverse ( 2 Chinese characters) the character on the right tells you where it was minted, which in this case is the most common mint, the Treasury mint.) A nice coin to find, and one a hundred and fifty years old. And it is in good condition. Good hunting.

Wow. Some nice replies above. Good work guys. Those coins turn up from time to time. I found one in the 1980's detecting my neighbors yard when I was a teenager. Thought it was a washer at the time because of the hole. Nice find.:thumbsup:

Cool find. I found a similar one a couple months ago. Congrats. Here's are some pics of the one I found. It's a 1736-1795 Emperor KAO TSUNG, CH'IEN-LUNG. From the Boo Ciowan mint. HH
