Went to a new permission to today for about and hour just to see whats going on there...Its a bed and breakfast. .11acres..The inn was built in 1760s..2nd family since it was built. ..Anyway was just roaming around this field and I got this hit that said it was 6inch down. ..Dug down and it was more like 10...New it was going to be big... this is what I saw.
I could not believe it....I was over the moon
So I slowed down and about 50 feet from there I found this...thought it was the other half but I was wrong...Its the eagle. ..Now I dont know why these would be there...If they are civil war. .I know there was training camps in the area...
Any help with I'd would be great....
I do know there was fighting going on in the revolutionary war...BUT I DONT THINK SO.....Thanks in advance. ..
George. .

Thanks Dan...I was going to pm you and ask the only thing is I did not know how to attach a pic on a pm..
So is it a rare find?? Being from pa.Im not to familiar with civil war relics..

Well this one is not a Civil War relic...though it could be. 1830's stuff is sometimes found mixed in with CW stuff, but you typically see more 1850's stuff, that thing was almost 30 years old at the time the war broke out. It is not a common find, but not an entirely rare rare find. Then again, I have never found one ha ha

that's awesome of you. Yeah I'd never sell that. Half the fun of detecting for me is seeing my collection grow.

Good LORD what a great find! I may have seen one half of a buckle like that posted on a forum since I joined in 2006, but not both. To put that in perspective, GW Inaugural buttons get dug ever year, often half a dozen per year...

Get out there and dig the sword from that belt!

Congrats,

Buck
