Hi everyone, Did a good bit of hunting over the weekend. Finally me and my brother were able to hook up and get out for a weekend.
It's been awhile. We didn't waste any time though. Saturday I picked him up and we headed to the old tavern site.
I got some pics of the place but don't have it together yet. When I get it all done I'll make a separate post for you all.
It was slow picking up just a few wheat's and relics. I got a neat lead with gold plate picture frame. It was made by some company out of Columbus Ohio. Looks to be old.
Like I said before someone got to the site before us. They didn't get it all but did a good job.
After a few hrs there we decided to head home for the day.
About 100 yards away from the site Lance yells out while I'm driving there used to be a house on that lot. I quickly pulled in for a test run of the spot.
As soon as we got there about 10 minutes into the hunt I found 2 wheat's. Lance found a barber dime on the surface and a nice boyscout tie.
We hit it for a little while with just some clad to show for but the site had potential. It made it to the future list of spots.
Saturday night I had a idea of a place to hunt. It was a arsenal back in the 1850's and 1860's. They manufactured most if not all the bullets for the civil war.
They also made all the bullets for the war of 1812 and the mexican war also.
There was a great explosion on the site in 1862 that shook the whole city. 79 workers were killed there. Mostly younge women.
In it's prime the site employed over 1200 workers. During the civil war years.
I was told 3 ringers could be found in the area. Well they were right.
Sunday we got to the site and started hitting it hard. It has been hit over and over by countless hunters. Matter a fact there was a guy there my first day ever here detecting and sifting the soil.
I talked with him. Nice guy. Lance within 10 minutes of the hunt pulls a nice round ball.
After about 2 hrs of just a small amount of clad I hit the first 3 ringer. Then the next and the next.
I also found one completely smashed in the shape of a arrowhead. I did pinch a token out of the site. It is really small and read a plus 12 on the dfx. That's why it was still there.
I managed to pull one wheat out of the site. It's been coin hunted hard. Now I know what those civil war hunters go through to get those bullets. Man they get deep. It is alot of fun finding them though.
I also got a neat Elizabeth pin or button. Not sure what it was for. I like the unique relics the most. Got a few old buttons also.
The arsenal was gaurded by a ton of guards and I think these are there uniform buttons. One is back marked but can't quit read it all yet. They are civil war period though.
I will get back to the area though. They hit it hard but not to many guys know the dfx as well as I do. I can still pinch and pull the last bits from any site. If it's still there by now know one was gonna get it.
Thanks for looking everyone. Would love to hear some comments and opinions on the finds.

Jeremy
