That is one fantastic Save on the CW sword belt plate. I believe you have an officers sword belt plate. Well Done.

Found this yesterday in northern Indiana. Not sure if it’s a General Service sword belt plate or an officers. The wreaths are missing. Any help is appreciated. I’m gonna go back and try to find the other piece.
Awesome!!! Congrats!!!

Awesome find.. Someone mentioned the missing wreaths ? They were made from some type of white metal that was probably soldered on. Either the metal itself deteriorates or the solder does . Either way, these plates often turn up with the wreaths gone. Another thing to keep in mind is, literally tons of CW surplus equipment was available through dealers like Francis Bannerman up until probably the 1930's and it was cheap by today's prices. Why am I mentioning this ? Because these relics may or may not be period bring homes. Authentic surplus items may have been bought to be used at CW veteran reunions or even to be used in theatrical presentations years ago. Doesn't diminish the value of the find, but it helps answer why this stuff is found a long way away from any CW activity. Anyway,it's fun to imagine a veteran returning home with their personal outfit etc.
