🔎 UNIDENTIFIED closure of some sort

found this little guy a few outings ago and at first thought it may have been a saw medallion but after inspection, I think I can rule that out....and then I noticed two slits, opposite each other on the knurled rim. Now I am even more clueless. I have found on this same site a lead push-on cap from a gunpowder tin but this one is similar but is male threaded and not lead. Hope someone can identify it, for it has me stumped. Thanks for lookin,vn

Nice ID Matt! What do we think the slits are for? I looked at gunpowder tins but none have anything like a strap thru the cap.

Maybe a screw top to an old tube of something?

I did some look in around too Gene, found a few that looked like they show the slit for sealing the cap. Not sure if there are better pics to be found.

I think you just click on the "solved" under the thread heading in your original post. Top left under "unidentified Closure of some sort".
