Was on my old site today and dug some good stuff but my hunting buddy stole the show. He found the 1854 seated and the 1860 French silver...and the button:BangHead: Dang, why didnt I find it... I did find a bunch of stuff not pictured but I thought the rimfire was pretty neat. It is a C.D. Leet headstamp from 1864-66....So this S. C. button with a Scovills and Co. backmark was a real shocker to find down here in Fla. Gotta get back there:thumbsup:

I don't think I've seen a 20 cent piece. Thanks for sharing!

20 Cent is an abbreviation for 20 Centimes. Very nice find!

I have learned that the rimfire is quite a scarce headstamp, probably a better than usual example.

20 Cent is an abbreviation for 20 Centimes. Very nice find!

I have to wonder if it was intentionally tossed away at this old store building as it is the size of a half dime and perhaps someone tried to use it as a twenty cent coin....one that had not yet been minted in the US until 1875. That would have been four times the face value at the time, not sure the storekeeper was buying it.
