The Pennsylvania State Police at Frackville are investigating the theft of collector's coins in North Union Township.

Troopers say sometime between August 31, 2022 at 6:00am and 5:45pm the same day, someone made entry into a home on Labenberg Road in North Union Township and removed $500 in 1887 Silver Morgan Dollars (Sealed), 5 $2 Bills, and $30 in uncirculated quarters

Looking at the general value in 500 "sealed" 1887 it's a big loss. Now were they sealed in 2'x2' or slabbed?
Big loss for the collector, probably no insurance to cover the actual loss as the rider on the policies over ride he increased value many times.
A targeted theft or a random is also a question the comes to mind.
Having family members loose valuables it was a case of somebody knew-and told somebody else.

Either way this collection will end up in the big city, unsealed, sold off for a quick $$$.

And why I have a early century safe. Stops the smash and grabs
Sister had a safe in the upstairs closet.
Took 4 men to get it up there.
Safe thrown down, went through the midway landing.
They put it in the king size duvet.
Out the front door, postman saw, thought family was moving something.
Need to bolt those safes to a plate that isn't going anywhere fast.

I bet the silver dollars are 1987 silver eagles.
it distinguishes . they were 1887 Silver Morgan Dollars.
But I also thought 500 1887 ?'s or $500 Book Value in 1887's ?
I would think the Police would be Number Specific but :dontknow:
I may be wrong...... this time :tongue3:
it is also possible the guy was scammed into a TV or magazine ad
for a set of circulated 1887's for $500.00
