Colonial Farm Field Whoozie Whatsit

Working a cornfield today that has turned up knee buckles and flat buttons in the past and recovered this guy. It’s copper. Its hollow. And I have no idea. Anyone have a guess?

wonder if it could have been the gas pickup on the end of the fuel hose on an old chainsaw. may have had a filter inside it.

The small end appears to be designed to fit inside of a hose/pipe maybe secured with a collar. My first thought was some kind of nozzle, but nothing like it came up after a Google search.

Is the green I see paint, or oxidized copper?

Thinking it's either it's a early version of a water hose nozzle,
or a Civil War era one-hitter.

Yea that whats left of the oxidation after a good scrubbing. Both the chain pull and hose bit make sense! Thanks everyone for the input.
