Colonial GOLD WASH buckle plate??? Hard for identification

This artifact was found folded and bent, I slowly, slowly straightened it out, with some success. It is broken in half, so I sketched out what it may have oridinally looked like. LOTS of GOLD wash present, over copper. Very ornate and was found in an area that has yielded a Spanish Half Reale, and buttons from late 1700s to 1830. Any thoughts or ideas? Ladies hair piece? Or was it mounted on a leather scabbard, or horse décor? Any thoughts, would be greatly appreciated! Have a good weekend. Cheers.

Does it look like the holes were holding jeweled stones? Anything that looks like broken prongs to hold them in?

If so, that would be a female's piece?

If any attachment on the back that somebody can date, or ID with a rear pic of it
