Had a great hunt last night. I know I haven’t been posting much at all for a long time due to work and life things and I do have some other finds on have to eventually put up but I finally got a good hunt in yesterday. I was exploring some woods and stumbled on a strange rocky hump that turned out to be a colonial site in the woods. Must have been a log cabin at one time because the only remnants I could find was window glass among the base of rocks. If it wouldn’t have got dark I bet I would’ve pulled out more finds. In the end I found a little of everything. Bullets, relics, buttons and coins. I’m not sure how well the ten coins I found will clean up but from what I see they are mostly George ii halfpennies, Hibernia halfpennies and tokens. Maybe there is a old silver or better yet gold hiding around there somewhere. The navy anchor button right at the end was a real treat. Thanks for looking and I hope there is some finds left there yet! [emoji16][emoji106]

Looks like you're on a great virgin site! Love the naval button, might be a Rev War period Royal Navy officer's button. Lots of coppers and a keg spigot - that almost makes me think tavern site, but will have to wait until further investigation of the site. Strange to find a mid 19th century Enfield bullet on a site like that.

Great stuff. I believe that's a British navy button, Revolutionary War period, assuming there is no backmark.

There’s a later house foundation nearby. Maybe this was the site of the first house perhaps then they built bigger and moved? The other site had Vicky Canadian large cents and mid 1860’s provincial coins so I’m sure they were hunting all around there! [emoji16][emoji106]

As settlers prospered and their families grew, they often built a bigger more permanent house on the property, so your theory is probably right. However, that bullet is from a military musket, not a hunting rifle. Maybe someone was in the militia, which could mean other military relics in the ground.

I hope your right. I have found military buttons, etc. in my area so it’s highly likely. Another shoulder plate would be nice someday! [emoji16]

Thanks and believe me I wish it wasn’t such awhile I’ve been around. Life got a bit crazy there for more than awhile. I did find some stuff now and then through it all that never got posted so I’ll have to do a random find post sometime. Don’t know how I made it through with so little detecting! [emoji16]

What a killer site!!! Congrats brother! I think this is the button you found. Keep in mind, this is a sketch, but I'm very confident.
