Nice! Could be a serving fork, used to hold meat while they slice it.
If that is iron you can reverses electrolysis it and recover the metal. May have a makers mark on it.

Very cool
I’ve found a number of the iron part or fragments Thereof, but never with wood. Here’s a picture of some. The top one has the handle, but it looks metal core and metal sheath. Maybe it’s visible in the picture

funny how an old rusty artifact like your fork can cause us so much wonderment, must be in our blood, I am sure. I'm a sucker for old forged nails, they get me super excited every time:thumbsup:
