Got a Chinese knockoff brand off Amazon. Now I don’t know how to use it or where to even begin.

While I really enjoy fossil collecting more than artifacts (hence the name) I still consider artifacts to be my second favorite hobby. And what do you know, the two mixed! While I was on the James river getting some cool fossils I was also finding pieces of old bottle from the colonial age! I didn?t think much into it at first, I thought it was cool, but I didn?t realize that Nathaniel bacon had a castle nearby upon the river so it got me thinking of whether these bottles were once carried by his crew, or Nathaniel himself. Putting aside the fact that he was kind of a jerk, it?s a cool thought to think that Nathaniel may have been drinking out of these bottles when he was doing whatever he does. Anyways, here?s all the finds. And no, the pieces don?t fit together unfortunately. I don?t know if y?all are into spirits or anything but I hope that collecting all these artifacts doesn?t come back to bite me. I don?t want Nathaniel waking around my house!

Welcome! Nice finds!

Very cool. I love finding shards of early bottles. The glass was so thick.

Thanks y’all! It’s really fun to find old stuff that isn’t fossils for once.

I found an embossed label from the side of a wine bottle on an old site I was detecting. The label was from 1776. Quite exciting and the first and only such artifact I have found.+ Reply to Thread
