Found this copper deep in the woods late fall before the snow fell. It's a left facing bust and I can see the AUCTORI and CONNEC so I know it's Connecticut Copper. There are so many varieties...any of you Colonial coin experts able to ID? I would love to know the date but I can't make out that last number.

It's definitely a 1788 dated Connecticut copper. Fortunately there are only 37 varieties of that date, but you're going to need more detail on the obverse to nail down a die pairing.

Update:
Based on the details I can see, it's most likely a Miller 11-G

I think Paleomaxx got it. The 1788 Connecticuts are my favorites, all are thought to have been minted at Machin's Mill, a somewhat clandestine minting operation in Newburgh New York. While they did some legitimate contract coinage for Vermont, many of their products were unauthorized state coinages and copies of British halfpennies.

Thanks Peleomaxx. Regardless of the variety and year it is actually my first CT copper...at least one that I could ID. I think you've got it!
