Hit this old home site in the park woods for 4 more hours. The EMI and soil loaded with iron continue to be a challenge. Periods of 10-30 minutes where the Nox won’t lock on to anything, then stabilizes and target after target. Very frustrating. Also, not a single wheat, IHP or any US coin which is totally illogical with the amount of stuff that is popping here. Had what I thought was finally a US Large Cent, but ends up being an 1816 Austrian Kreuzer. Some aluminum religious tokens near the road, but ball buttons and a nice tombac back near the limestone ruins. Very strange site, but fun.

That place sure is producing a lot of mid 19th century material. I love those oriental portrait buttons and the way the gilt remains in the recessed areas. Can you make out a back mark on those buttons?

I like the matching buttons
They look like a blue willow design. Never heard of that on buttons.

Something really good is going to come out of that spot.

Yes, similar to that common pattern.
I've seen quite a few designs like this on late 19th C Buttons.

Did you try single frequency. To maybe calm it down?

I tried 4 kHz and it gave me a false high tone on each swing, 10 kHz was better but would not lock into targets (vdi at constant-6 to -9), multi would give moments of total clarity and this is where I got repeatable diggable signals.

Strange sites are the best ones! Nice digs. What is the round item on the right side of the top pic that looks like a little wreath. I found one like it, but couldn't figure out what is was.

Thanks. It is a civilian sash buckle. It is fairly thin brass, I believe there are some military items that look similar to this but they are much more substantial cast brass pieces.
