A local family I know found a CW Calvary Sword in a well on an 1800 century farm. It is a great find, but its condition is not great. It looks like the sword blade isn't too bad and would clean up with electroysis. The scabbard on the other hand is rusted through in multiple places and is frozen to the blade. It doesn't look like the scabbard would hold together through electroysis. Any ideas on how to clean/stabilize this? I would love to find a way to stabilize it as is, but I am also wondering if we should sacrifice the scabbard to save the blade. Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

Wow, that is an awesome find and a great job with the restoration. Congratulations! I think the WD40 or Evaporust soak idea may be a good first step with this one.
