Getting ready to venture south for the winter and considering getting either the CZ-20, 1280x...or the Tesoro Tiger Shark detector for beach hunting.
I have used the 1280x in the past. Lived in Fl for 5 years and walked many miles on the beaches there. I've read a lot about the Tiger Shark and the CZ-20 and it seems that people are saying that the CZ-20 is not great on finding small gold as compared to the Tiger Shark. Anyone have experience with these machines? Would appreciate any advice and or opinions. I will be water hunting also.......wading and snorkeling.

I have experience with all these great detectors. The 1280 and Tiger Shark won't work well at all saltwater beaches because of salt and black sand concentrations. The CZ-20 and 21 use two transmit freq. at the same time an will work very well.

As for the CZ-20/21 ability to finding small gold, I have no trouble finding gold earring backs. house 035.JPG

Thanks Sandman....that's the info I was looking for. I will probably go with the CZ-20 used off e-bay. Some good deals there compared to buying new.
Moving to Fl soon..............

If buying it used take notice that if having to send it in for repair, Fisher will have to convert it to a CZ-21 for $$$. One upgrade you can do yourself is to smear silicon sealant over the rubber pinpoint button to prevent leaks.

Thanks Keppy and Sandman.....good points to consider before making a purchase. I noticed some CZ-21's for around 900.00 May go that way and save some trouble down the road.

Several CZ21s have recently sold on Ebay for 600 to 700 hundred, some practically new...click on the completed listings box on the left side of the screen when you are looking at the CZ21s on Ebay.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it. If something goes wrong with a CZ-20 and you have to send it in, First Texas just converts it to a CZ-21 with a different pinpoint button. No difference in performance. CZ-20.jpeg View attachment CZ-21.bmp

Question on the 21.
Is it locked into salt mode or can it be ground balanced to land hunt?
I was told once it was locked to salt but it having manual GB I don't understand how it can be locked in salt mode.

Always looking for enlightment.
Thanks

CZ20/21 is "locked" in salt mode. It is not like the 5 or 6 or the other dual freq cz's that have on/off for salt. But do not perceive this as detrimental by any means. I prefer cz20 on land for deep coin work. There is negligible difference in performance between the modes. The cz20 is a very sensitive deep machine on land and in the salt.

This is a great question. I would love to hear a technical response. What does locked in salt mode mean? And doesn't manual GB mean its not locked in any mode? I have no clue which is why I am asking and think its a great question

Non transferrable warranty. I have found almost new CZ-21 but with no warranty can't see paying more than 6-$700 tops since I'm on my own if it does go down. I found one that was only 2 months that the person wanted $875 for and a new one can be had for another $70 with 2 year warranty.

Pm sent with a link that explains what salt vs enhanced or normal means. CZ-21's don't have that option but all land CZ detectors do have 2 modes.

"Locked" in salt mode means there is no option for any other mode, of course. It's locked in salt mode. Okay, concerning salt mode and gb on a cz. On a cz20/21 or any cz, you have full control of gb from salt on up. You can gb any cz dead nuts, regardless of mode. Same with any tecter with manual gb. Want to gb? Just do it. :occasion14:
